Q: What is a Goldendoodle?
A: The Goldendoodle is a designer dog created by crossbreeding a Golden Retriever and a Poodle.
Q: Are Goldendoodles Really Hypoallergenic?
A: No dog is 100% Hypoallergenic. If a breeder you are dealing with simply tells you that their puppies are hypoallergenic – use caution.
We Recommend F1B Goldendoodles ( This type is better for those seeking a dog if there are allergies or asthma involved.)
Q: What is an F1 Goldendoodle?
A: An F1 is really the first generation of the cross between two purebred dogs. If you cross a purebred Golden Retriever with a purebred Poodle – this is considered an F1 puppy. This mix can produce non-shed & low to medium-shed coats in a variety of types that can be soft and wavy or even tighter curl.
Q: What is an F1B Goldendoodle?
A: An F1b is a “Back~cross”
This means that you take a “Doodle” who has 2 purebred parents that are different breeds…. and you breed this “Doodle” with a purebred poodle.
This type is better for those seeking a dog if there are allergies or asthma involved.
These coats are typically anywhere from a loose wave to a tight curl.
Q: What Is An English Cream Goldendoodle?
A: The English Cream Goldendoodles have the English Cream Golden Retriever in their lineage. Most of the Goldens and Goldendoodles in our program are from the English lines. (Find out more at Lakeshoredoodles.com)
Q: Which Is Better, A Goldendoodle Or A Labradoodle?
A: Our personal opinion is that we prefer the Goldendoodles because their coats are much more consistent from litter to litter. We also really like the soft, full, fluffy look of the F1 and F1b Goldendoodles vs. the harsher, sometimes wirey, “Terrier” look that some of the Labradoodles ended up with.
Q: Can We Visit Lakeshore Doodles?
A: We do allow people to come meet our puppies but protecting our puppies is our main concern – so we do take special precautions.
Before asking to meet any of our puppies you will have to complete our online puppy application so that we can work together to determine which litter or puppy might be a good fit for what you are looking for. If we do not have anything that will work for you we might be able to make a good recommendation for another reputable breeder who does.
Q: Should I choose a male or female Goldendoodle?
A: Here are the facts the way we see it:
Many dog owners and breeders will have varying opinions on this topic, such as: “Males are sweeter” or “Females are much calmer”. You have to be really careful when listening to these types of opinions because there is simply no truth to broad statements like these.
Q: What is a Mini Goldendoodle or Mini Doodle?
A: A Mini Doodle is a cross between a Mini-Poodle and a Purebred Goldendoodle.
Q: What colors do Goldendoodles come in?
A: Cream, Apricot, Gold, Red and Light Red, Parti Colored, Abstract, and Black.
Goldendoodles can also have different colored pigments on their noses. We cannot always tell you exactly what color your doodle will end up…They can lighten or darken as they grow.
