The ingredients

Now, I didn’t try them. But, the crowd thought they were airy and chocolatey with the filling in the Twinkie was a good complement to each other. This easy gourmet chocolate covered Twinkie recipe only use a few ingredients, but you will need your freezer off and on to chill the Twinkie’s in between dipping’s to make sure the Twinkie do not fall off the stick.

I think this dessert will be great for family dinner’s, brunches or birthday parties. I’ll let you decide. Using 1 box of Twinkie’s will at least make a serving of 10.

First, you will want to prep your area. You will need, a baking sheet, parchment paper or aluminum foil, at least 2 pieces. You will also need a microwave safe dish to melt the chocolate. I used a large Pyrex measuring cup. I didn’t want the dish to be shallow, because it would have made it much harder to dip the Twinkie.

Chopped Chocolate

Now you want to cut your paper straws to about 8 inches. You don’t want to cut them too short because we need to insert them inside the Twinkie.

Next, you will unwrap your Twinkie’s and place them on the baking sheet. Melt your chocolate, you will need to move fast before the chocolate harden. Now take a pre-cut straw, dip it in the melted chocolate (about 1-2 inches) and insert the chocolate dipped straw in the Twinkie about 2-3 inches. Repeat this process, put in the freezer for about 5 minutes.

Dip the Straw in Chocolate

While the Twinkie’s are partially frozen, dip one Twinkie at a time and place on your parchment paper, dip the other Twinkie’s and place them on the parchment paper. Once you’ve dipped the 3-4 Twinkie’s in chocolate go ahead and sprinkle with your toppings of choice. Repeat this process with the remaining Twinkie’s in the freezer.
