What’s the Weather Like In Jamaica?
What’s Jamaica’s weather like? In a word, spectacular!
Jamaica is a true island paradise, with sun and warmth across all seasons. These climatological perks make it a prime destination for escaping the clutches of winter in places less lucky than us.
Still, you might be surprised that the weather varies from season to season. Knowing what to expect from the weather in Jamaica will help you pack and ensure there aren’t any surprises when you arrive.
With that in mind, here is the season-by-season of Jamaica weather.
Jamaica Weather in the Spring
Spring is the windiest time of year in Jamaica, particularly in March and April.
While the wind won’t interfere with your enjoyment of the beaches, the water may be too rough in the Ocho Rios area for scuba diving, snorkeling and parasailing, so plan your trip accordingly.

The average daily high temperatures during a Jamaican spring range from 83 to 86.5 degrees F, with average lows usually falling between 75 and 78 degrees F.

May is an excellent time to head to Jamaica if you’re looking for a sunny all-inclusive vacation with lots of ocean breeze mixed in as well. Mid-May, winds typically start picking up, which can be welcome to help you cool off from the sun.

The month of May can be rainy, with an average of 5.9 inches of precipitation. Still, spring rain most likely won’t ruin your vacation. Here in Jamaica, rainfall tends to come in short bursts lasting just 10 to 30 minutes.
Data sourced from the National Climatic Data Center.
Jamaica Weather in the Summer
Of course, summer is the hottest season in Jamaica. But we have a distinct advantage: cool island breezes. Don’t underestimate the ability of a nice breeze blowing across the Caribbean to cool you on even the hottest days.
Average highs during a Jamaican summer are around 88 degrees F, and average lows hover at approximately 78 degrees F; June is another rainy month, with about 5.5 inches of rainfall on average.
Summer also marks the start of hurricane season in the Atlantic, but typically, severe weather spares Jamaica. By all means, don’t let the fear of hurricanes stop you from booking a summer vacation in Jamaica! Over the last century, only a handful of storms have hit the island.
Jamaica Weather in the Fall
In autumn, the weather in Jamaica begins to “cool off,” with average daily highs of 87.9 degrees F in September, 86.7 degrees F in October and 84.9 degrees Fahrenheit in November.

September and October are the rainiest months of the year, with 6.1 inches and 7.4 inches of rain falling on average each month, respectively. Mornings and evenings can be breezy in the fall, but the average low is still a comfortable 77 degrees Fahrenheit.
Jamaica Weather in the Winter
Winter brings the most incredible conditions Jamaica will see all year. But that’s not saying much! Daily temperatures still average highs of 82.3 to 83.1 degrees F and lows of 74 to 75 degrees F.
Most people would say Jamaica’s winter weather is the best of the year. February sees the least rainfall out of any month of the year, with just 1.7 inches of precipitation occurring on average.
Combined with the less-than-great weather many other locations experience in the winter, it makes winter the peak season for Jamaican tourism.
Regarding your vacation, having a friendly local resource can help you make the most of your trip.
